This year, instead of heading abroad for your Easter holiday, why not enjoy a staycation in the beautiful Enniscrone, Co. Sligo? Irish Breaks don’t get any better than a luxury hotel, delicious dining and of course the Wild Atlantic Way on your doorstep. We may not be a tropical destination and we cannot guarantee great weather, but we do have a gorgeous sandy beach, beautiful views over the ocean and plenty to see and do for you and your family!
Here are our top recommendations to make your family break to Enniscrone great.
1. Go surfing and feast your eyes on the gorgeous scenery
We are located in surfer’s paradise, right on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean so it would be a shame not to take advantage of the scenery and try your hand at surfing! You don’t need to be a pro, all you need is enthusiasm, willingness to learn and an expert instructor to teach you the basics.
Book surf lessons for your family, or just your children if you don’t want to give it a go, with 7th Wave Surf School. They offer lessons for all skill levels from experts to complete novice and you will be taught techniques and safety measures, so you feel confident riding the waves. It’s a unique experience that your family will remember for a lifetime.
2. Looking for an aqua park? Waterpoint Leisure & Sunset Spa has got you covered
Sometimes the weather is too bad to enjoy a surf lesson, or maybe you’ve had enough sand in your socks, and you need something else to do. If your water babies want to keep splashing away, bring them to Enniscrone’s very own Aqua Park – Water Point. They have something for everyone with pools, slides and other activities for you all to enjoy. Your children will love the 65-metre flume water slide and for the little ones, there is a separate children’s pool. Mom and Dad will love the 18m pool and the health suite including jacuzzi, sauna and steam room.
3. Pebbles Indoor Play Centre is a haven for the little ones
If the weather is too bad to enjoy the great outdoors, Ocean Sands Hotel has the ideal solution. We have our very own indoor play area, perfect to entertain your little ones between 6-9pm. We have a climbing frame, a tube slide, a ball pool, an indoor football set, a pool table, an art & craft table with face painting, toddler play area, a children’s library, a TV & DVD set up, and a café for mom and dad to refuel & rest!
4. Have you tried Pitch and Putt?
We might be famed for our world-class golf courses but for a family-friendly activity, we also have an impressive 18-hole Pitch and Putt in the middle of Enniscrone Village. This fun-filled activity is great for the whole family, fostering friendly competition and teamwork between you as you race to the finish with the fewest putts. There is no need to pre-book, you can walk in 7 days a week any time from 10am onwards and they supply all of the essentials like golf clubs, golf balls, tees and marker cards.
5. Enjoy riding a horse at Iceford Stables
If you’re looking for an alternative and exciting way to let you reconnect with nature on your trip to Enniscrone, why not consider Horse Riding? We are lucky to have the only horse-riding company to offer beach rides in the area, less than three miles from the hotel.
Iceford Stables are a Premier Horse-Riding stable and the best place to begin or practise your skills. They run regular pony camps during school holidays, including Easter, to encourage children to develop or perfect their horse-riding technique. Horse riding on the beach is an experience your family will remember forever.
